L’chu Neranena
Shayna Burack, vocals and Julian Chin, piano
Cantorial school gave me the tools to integrate traditional chazzanut with accessible, communal music, helping create moments where the richness of our heritage flows seamlessly into shared, joyful song. I hope this setting will bring a smile to your face.
Avinu Malkeinu
Shayna Burack, vocals and Julian Chin, piano
I love our tradition’s High Holiday Music. It is a joy to return to these classical settings each year with new kavannah and hope.
Ocho Kandelikas
Shayna Burack, vocals and Julian Chin, piano
This Ladino Chanukah song introduces our children to other Jewish voices. It’s also a song from my own childhood—one I sang in a fourth-grade Chanukah concert, counting each candle on the JCC stage with my little hands. Sharing this moment from my Jewish story fills me with warmth and gratitude for my open and diverse upbringing.
Shalom Aleichem
Shayna Burack, vocals and Shayna Burack, guitar
Of all the songs I bring to the seniors under my pastoral care this year, Goldfarb’s setting of “Shalom Aleichem” is the one that reliably makes my clients light up and join in. Its familiar melody and words seem to carry them back in time while opening a doorway to joy and memory right here and now.
Mi Shebeirach
Shayna Burack, vocals and Julian Chin, piano
A cantorial mentor taught me this song, passed down to her directly from Cantor Lisa Levine. Whenever I sing it, I’m reminded of the woman who wrote it for those she loved and of the chain of women I now join in carrying its healing forward.
